Etcher and carver
Alun Pryce
Etchings and monotypes of woods and quarries, made slowly on copper plates.

2012
Alun has been etching for over forty years and taught printmaking at art school until he retired. He carves small animals in lime wood in the evenings, and sometimes we show those too.
His etchings take weeks to bite and proof. He prints them himself in editions of no more than 25.
In the artist’s words
Copper is patient. It lets you go back in, again and again, until the wood looks like it's breathing.
